Word Linking
Word linking is the secret to sounding fluent. They rarely teach this in ESL classes, and I’m not sure why.
Why do some advanced learners of English sound so fluent, flowing from one word to the next effortlessly? Well, they’ve probably discovered the art of word linking.
I say art, but word liking is more of a science. There are specific word liking rules in every language. If you learn the rules and commit them to practice, your speech will start to sound amazing.
So what is word linking? It’s the transitions between words. When we speak, we don’t. break. up. every. separate. word. Rather, we link words together smoothly. Remember when you heard a foreign language for the first time, you didn’t know where one word ended and the next word began. That’s word linking.
